X8 - Skywalker Airframe

Available Payload Capacity, Size and Efficiencey 

 

Our airframe platform selection was justified as a result of its recorded reliability, large payload volume capacity and high-lift design. It is earmarked as an aircraft capable of supporting a payload of up to 2.5Kg. and can be easily dismantled whilst keeping the airframe payload bay intact. The aircraft's affordability makes it a particularly competitive choice as a UAV platform and it's easily interchangeable parts makes damaged sections of the aircraft easily replaceable.

AIRFRAME SPECIFICATIONS

 

The airframe is constructed primarily from EPO foam, typical of most RC aircraft, due to it's light weight. Balsa wood parts are further used to strengthen the airframe structure and protect sensitive avionics components within the payload bay.

FLEET CHOICE

 

A decision to eventually employ a fleet of up to three X8 aircraft has been made to allow for different versions of the Raccon Intelligent Vision System to be developed and tested. It also allows for more parts to be available in the event of a damaged sustained by any airframe as a result of a crash.
